Graduate school is professionalization to the academy. One of the more essential components of professionalization will be able to publish your quest. I became fortunate enough to stay a department which had a yearlong seminar devoted to simply that: performing research and composing a publishable paper before you start the dissertation.

But that has been simply the first rung on the ladder. Most of what I’ve learned all about publishing originates from submitting documents to journals, including reviewer feedback, workshopping documents and achieving conversations with peers and mentors. (more…)
